MIAMI GARDENS, FL [May 12, 2011] – According to the Schott Foundation, only half of black male students graduate from high school. In an effort to reverse this crisis, Florida Memorial University (FMU) President Henry Lewis III, along with other university officials will launch the first 2011 High School Black Male Baccalaureate Service on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 5:00 pm. The event strives to honor extraordinary Black male students who will graduate from high school. It will take place at the Lou Rawls Center for the Performing Arts on FMU’s campus.
PatriceJohnson: Nene Leakes Gets Dumped

Many of us have seen that CRAZY show, Real Housewives of Atlanta and the first thing that we all noticed is Nene Leakes. She is BIG and LOUD! But I think that we should all stop and praise God because rumor has it that she will not be returning to the show. If she does, it will only be for an episode or two but she will no longer be a part of the cast. The reason for that is because of a new woman, Marlo Hampton.
Marlo Hampton has not only taken Nene’s spot on the show but she has also taken Nene’s man! NFL player, Charles Grant has dumped Nene (I guess he couldn’t handle all of the screaming and hollering) and decided to propose to a much more calm, patient, stylish and beautiful woman. Marlo is a stylist for the stars of Atlanta, GA. and I have a feeling that she plus Nene equals much drama to come in the new season!

Some people believe that if you are brought up in a stable home with a mother and father, for females, they are less likely to end up pregnant, more likely to go to college and less likely to end up on welfare. As for males, they are less likely to end up as dead beat dads, more likely to go to college and less likely to end up in prison.

South Park is a show that takes no prisoners. Sometimes they can be brutal, and when your name is mentioned on the show, you might as well prepare to be embarrassed. The latest victim of the show is Tyler Perry, who is presented as “Funny Bot,” a woman in a dress who tells silly stereotypical jokes that make you laugh over and over again. Every time Funny Bot throws out a catch phrase (“Oh lawud, this chicken sho is hot!”), someone hands him a dollar. He is also, by the way, presented as the greatest threat to all of man-kind by President Barack Obama (you can see a clip by clicking here).

Chris Johnson of the Tennessee Titans found himself in the center of police attention recently when an anonymous citizen called the police to report “high-end cars” coming into and out of Johnson’s complex. The police suspected drug activity, so they went to the house to investigate. The Orlando Police quickly realized that there was nothing illegal happening at Johnson’s house, so they left.
Johnson then sent this note out onto Twitter:
“Y did the police just walk in my condo saying they think it’s drug activity because it’s alot of traffic but it was the MTV camera crew.” He then added, “Hard being young, black and rich.”

I was inspired to visit the page after receiving an email from Michael Blake, Associate Director of the White House Office of Public Engagement (he was on the panel with myself, Al Sharpton and Ben Jealous at the Measuring the Movement forum this year in New York City). They are working hard to get African Americans enthusiastic about the 2012 elections and Blake is the man on the job.

NFL star and “Dancing with the Stars” contestant, Hines Ward was handcuffed at gunpoint around 2 AM. LAPD officers spotted the vehicle, pulled them over, ordering both Hines and the female driver out of the car at gunpoint. They were both handcuffed.
President Obama Heads to Ground Zero
Washington (CNN) — U.S. President Barack Obama will visit New York’s ground zero Thursday, days after a nighttime raid in Pakistan led to the death of the terror leader behind the attacks that toppled the twin towers.
Obama’s visit will include a wreath-laying ceremony, the White House said. He does not plan to deliver a speech.
